Shopping in Japan is a one-of-a-kind experience, especially in December when festive energy fills the streets, department stores, and markets. Japanese shoppers eagerly seek seasonal goods, luxurious gifts, and end-of-year bargains, making it a prime time for both domestic and international shoppers.

The amount people spend varies greatly depending on their income. On average, a wealthy individual in Japan spends between 300,000 to 500,000 yen ($2,000 to $3,400) during the holiday season on luxury goods like designer fashion, high-end electronics, and exclusive gifts. In contrast, lower-income shoppers typically budget 30,000 to 50,000 yen ($200 to $350), focusing on practical purchases, discounted items, and thoughtful gifts.
