Japan Prime Minister Ishiba’s Visit to Washington, D.C.

According to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on February 7 at 11:55 a.m. local time (February 8, 1:55 a.m. Japan time), Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru of Japan held his first in-person meeting with the Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, during his visit to Washington, D.C.


The meeting was structured in two parts:


• A small-group discussion that began at 11:55 a.m. (local time) and lasted approximately 30 minutes.

• An extended meeting and working lunch, which started at 12:25 p.m. (local time) and lasted approximately 80 minutes.


During the visit, President Trump presented Prime Minister Ishiba with a framed photo of the two leaders. Ishiba accepted the photo and later displayed it to the press present at the event.


This meeting marked a significant diplomatic engagement between Japan and the United States, reinforcing bilateral relations and discussions on key geopolitical and economic issues
